Advice & Consultancy

Subtle lighting in the garden is like magic after dark.

We are not suggesting that you set up Blackpool illuminations in your back garden. This would upset your neighbours, scare off wildlife and be damaging to the environment.

However, to extend the number of hours you can enjoy your garden, we advocate adding subtle focused or ambient lighting. Lamps should either be very low voltage or solar powered and programmed for short periods of time. Clever lighting can add atmosphere and create a real sense of joy once the sun has gone down.

When you entertain friends and family during the warmer months, installing a few lights to glow or twinkle along the paths or gently lighting a few plants or trees will create light and shadow, adding a real touch of sparkle to the event.

Lighting can be effective in cold weather, too! When it snows and the plants are dusted in sparkling white, a shimmering light will weave a magic spell, making every winter’s day feel like Christmas.

It doesn’t take a lot of lighting to impress or make an impact. However, adding unnecessary lighting can be damaging to the environment. We therefore advise our clients to be clever with lighting schemes. Less is definitely more when it comes to lights in the garden.
